A fast launch comes from the right order and the right pressure
Use clean ground, inspect every valve, shape the tubes first, bring the drop-stitch floor to 10 PSI, and finish the tubes at 3.5 PSI.
Before you start
Choose clean, level ground
Remove sharp debris and keep valves away from sand, gravel, and loose hardware.
Use a pressure-capable pump
The pump and gauge must be able to reach and read the floor's 10 PSI rating.
Lay out every component
Place the boat, floor, seats, oars, pump, motor hardware, and safety gear where you can reach them.
Read the model instructions
This sequence is a practical overview. Follow the manual and labels supplied with your exact boat and accessories.
Bag to launch-ready
Unroll and inspect
Spread the boat without dragging it. Check the hull, floor, valves, seams, transom, and accessories for damage or trapped debris.
Set every valve
Confirm that valve stems are in the inflation position and that the pump hose is locked securely before pumping.
Inflate the tubes to about 80 percent
Work evenly between chambers so the hull takes shape without twisting. Do not bring one chamber to final pressure while the rest are empty.
Seat and inflate the floor
Align the drop-stitch floor, clear any folds, and inflate it to 10 PSI using the gauge.
Finish the tubes
Bring all tube chambers to 3.5 PSI, working around the boat and checking that the hull remains even.
Install seats and rig the boat
Secure the seats and oars. Mount the motor squarely on the 15-inch transom, tighten clamps, and attach an appropriate motor safety line.
The 60-second pre-launch check
- Valve caps installed and no audible leaks.
- Tubes at 3.5 PSI and floor at 10 PSI, adjusted for current temperature.
- Seats, oars, motor clamps, safety line, and kill-switch lanyard secure.
- Drain plug and any model-specific fittings correctly set.
- Wearable life jacket for every person, plus the safety gear required for your water and conditions.
- Motor battery or fuel secured, weather checked, and route shared with someone ashore.
Heat can increase pressure while a boat sits ashore; cold water can reduce it after launch. Recheck pressure as conditions change and never exceed the labeled rating.
Tear down cleanly
- Move to a clean area and remove the motor, battery or fuel, gear, seats, and loose hardware.
- Rinse off salt, sand, and mud. Let the boat and floor dry before long-term storage.
- Open valves gradually and keep debris away from the openings.
- Fold without forcing sharp creases around valves or seams.
- Store cool, dry, and protected from prolonged sun, pests, and abrasive objects.
Setup questions
Can one person set up the boat?
Inflation can be managed solo, but lifting and moving depend on the model. Current boat weights range from 84 to 135 lb, so plan help or appropriate handling equipment.

How do I make setup faster?
