Boating in the Pacific Northwest isn't like boating in Florida or California. We deal with 12-foot tides, rocky beaches, cold water, and serious weather. You need gear that is tougher than the elements.
That is why the Seattle Boat Show (January 30 – February 7) is the most important date on our calendar. This is where serious boaters come to rig up for the season.
This year, Rover Marine is heading to Lumen Field to join forces with our partner POP Board Co. at Booth North 141. If you cruise the San Juans, fish the Sound, or anchor in Lake Union, this is the booth you can't afford to miss.
The PNW Problem: Tides, Rocks, and Heavy Tenders
If you own a cruiser or sailboat in the Sound, you know the struggle of the "Dinghy Drag."
You pull up to a rocky beach on Sucia Island or Stuart Island. The tide is dropping fast. You have a heavy fiberglass tender that weighs 300 lbs. Dragging it up the rocks is a back-breaking nightmare. And if you leave it too low? It’s gone when the tide comes back in.
The Solution: The Rover Battle Boat
At Booth North 141, we are debuting the solution: The Rover Battle Boat. It is a rigid, drop-stitch inflatable sport boat that is built specifically for rugged environments.
- Lightweight Toughness: Weighing significantly less than a hard hull, you can actually drag this boat up a rocky beach without throwing out your back.
- Rugged Hull: Our military-grade PVC is designed to take a beating against barnacles and rocks. It bounces off docks where fiberglass chips and cracks.
- Stable in the Chop: The Puget Sound gets choppy. The Battle Boat's wide beam and rigid floor keep you dry and stable, whether you're running crab pots or shuttling groceries to the mothership.
- Three Sizes: Available in 8ft, 10ft, and 12ft to fit any swim grid or davit system.
The "POP" Phenomenon: Why Seattle Loves POP Board Co.
We are sharing the booth with POP Board Co., and frankly, they don't need an introduction here. This is their biggest show of the year for a reason.
Seattle boaters have realized that the best way to enjoy a gray day (or a rare sunny one!) is to get on the water, not just look at it.
- The Floating "Back Porch": The POP Up Dock is the ultimate accessory for cold-water boating. It gives you a stable, dry platform to stage kayaks, launch paddleboards, or just sit in a chair with a coffee while anchored in a quiet cove.
- Extended Living Space: When you're cooped up on a boat during a rainy weekend, having that extra 8x7 foot dock to stretch out on makes a massive difference.
Seattle Boat Show Guide: Navigate Like a Local
The Seattle Boat Show is huge, split between two locations. Here is how to find us and make the most of your trip:
1. Find Us Indoors at Lumen Field
We are located in the Lumen Field Event Center (Indoors). This is where the accessories, electronics, and trailerable boats are displayed.
- Booth: North 141 (Look for the POP Board Co. & Rover Marine banners).
- Why Visit?: You can't understand the quality of our drop-stitch technology until you touch it. Come knock on the hull. It feels like fiberglass, but packs down like a raft.
2. The "Bell Harbor" Connection
There is a free shuttle running between Lumen Field and the Bell Harbor Marina (Afloat Show). If you are looking at big yachts at Bell Harbor, remember this: Every big yacht needs a good tender. Come back to Lumen Field Booth North 141 to buy the tender that won't scratch your new paint job.
